Bug in comparison of 4 or 5 lines?

Hello.

1) I made 2 files, each has 4 or 5 lines, including blank lines. Below are the files:

File1:

Code: Select all

Line1

Line2
Line3
File 2:

Code: Select all

Line1
Line1a

Line2
Line3
Latest EDP beta shows that "Line2" of the 1-st file is equal to "Line3" of the 2-nd file. No Ignore options enabled.

2) Seems that the latest EDP beta (v3.5.0.2, but there were more than one with this version number) does not position on the 1-st difference on start. Or it always was so, and is by design?

Thank you.

1) Good catch, thanks. The fix in the latest build (3.5.0.4).

2) It's defined by an option: Misc | After new compare scroll vertically to

I downloaded today http://www.prestosoft.com/download/edpro35beta.exe (this is the link from the beta page http://www.prestosoft.com/ps.asp?page=edp_download), but again got v3.5.0.2. Though it is slightly different from the previous v3.5.0.2, but has the same bug.

Yes, I have this option set to "First Difference". But I see the beginning of files at the beginning of comparison, not the first difference.

If this helps, I don't use "Compare New Pair..." menu item for new compare, but launch EDP each time from the beginning via command line for comparing a pair of new files.

You are right, it was a bug. Fixed now in 3.5.0.6.
