Error Message when trying to compare two text files

Post by Wayne1991 »

I have two text files I'm trying to compare but ExamDiff Pro keeps telling me that one of them is a binary file and it can't do the comparison. Does anyone know how to correct this problem?

Well, I suspect that your file is indeed binary (can you open it in Notepad?). If so, you can treat it as text (Options | Compare) but the result may be not be very useful. Or compare files as binary files.

No, it's definitely a text file. I can open it up in notepad and I can compare it using other file comparison software. I tried selecting treat binary as text but I still get the same error message.

Your file has NULL characters in it. EDPro considers files with NULLs binary.
