Can Examdiff save files open in other processes?

Post by arobustus »

I was wondering if there is a setting in ExamDiff that will allow me to save files in ExamDiff while they are open by other processes. Some programs allow this, notable the text editor UltraEdit. (My reasons for wanting to use Examdiff Pro as a text editor are detailed in another thread I started, "Specify alignment of 2 files according to rule?".
Thanx,

It really depends on the other process. Some release file handle, some don't. Try this: open EDP, then start editing one of the files in Notepad, then save the file in EDP. No problem. Having said this, there's one option that controls how the files are saved: Options | File Editing | Overwrite files directly during saving. Try plying with it.
