More buttons on toolbar

Post by AlexL »

Hello.

Is it possible to provide more buttons on toolbar? For example, I'd like to have possibility to toggle from toolbar such modes as "Ignore Whitespaces", "Ignore Linebreaks", etc. Currently I can't find such possibility.

Thank you.

We don't have these particular options as toolbar buttons. All potential buttons can be seen on the left side of the Customize Toolbar dialog. One way to deal with your problem is to use the "Use Ignores" command/button.

I know, I do exactly what you wrote, or go through Options menu tree. But sometimes you don't have any Ignores enabled, and when you compare files you see that most of the differences (if not all) are caused by operating system approach (line breaks), or by white spaces. In order to check your assumption, you go to Compare options, toggle the appropriate Ignores, and re-compare. Disadvantages:
1) It takes too long to toggle Ignoring Linebreak Styles. Toolbar button would work faster.
2) This may cause errors in further file pairs if you forget to revert all the process back after re-comparing. Toolbar button with visible state will be safer.
3) In general, I would like to extend amount of possible toolbar buttons.

This is fine but there are too many options to have a button for each. Perhaps users could vote here for their favorite missing buttons.

Sometimes I found myself wishing for a more direct way (toolbar is very good for this) to change the text "ignore"options.
The "ignore the ignores" and the "ignore comments" buttons are very good, but not so rarely I need something more specific: only the case or the blanks or...

Similar exigences with the "type of file comparison" in the directory compare.

Only little more that a dozen of options.
Not so many, after all.
Don't you agree?

Perhaps, I need to think about it. We'll probably end up adding at least some Ignore options to the toolbar.
