ExamDiff Pro can compare remote files and directories through the HTTP or FTP protocols (using the plug-ins that are optionally installed with ExamDiff Pro). Simply type in a valid URL (for example, http://domain.com/test.txt, ftp://ftp.server.com/test.txt or ftp//user:password@ftp.server.com/test.txt) in place of a file/directory path in the Compare dialog.

For the power users, you can modify the plug-ins used by ExamDiff Pro to handle remote files or directories (by default, cURL for files and wget for dirs) by adding the plug-in you want and setting <default-remote-file> or <default-remote-directory> as its Name Filter.

Works great, but after comparing and making the changes to the file from the FTP, how can the file be saved?
When viewing the file, ExamDiff Pro copies the file to the local file system. After making some changes is there a way to directly upload the file again through ExamDiff?
