How to disable a message

Post by mros71 »

After comparing directories on different drive, I often want to copy a block of files from one directory to the other, using the right-click option, 'copy to other directory' within the program. While copying, however, I repeatedly get the message which says, 'Directory X has been modified outside of ExamDiff Pro - Do you want to re-compare the directories?' The copying is being done within the program, not outside. The message appears repeatedly, and must be dismissed over and over for every file copied. Is there a way to disable this message?

It's a timing issue. ExamDiff Pro stops file change monitoring right before a file operation. After the operation is over, ExamDiff waits a little (based on the Registry setting "Time Delay For Monitoring File Operatios" -- yes, it's misspelled), then re-enables monitoring. The default is 100ms but some users needed to increase it, especially for network comparisons.

If you want to get rid of the monitoring messages altogether, go to Options | Misc | General and set "Change notifications" to "Do not ask" or "Do not monitor".
