- wget hast a new version v1.20 (note that XP is no longer supported beginning with that version but that should be not a reason to avoid new version: security is more important than an OS which is EOL anyway).

Unfortunately the version from skanthak (https://skanthak.homepage.t-online.de/curl.html) is not up-to-date, so I recommend version from "the curl project":

The build from skanthak is a lot smaller, so we'll update the plug-in when it becomes available (hopefully it will). If not, after some time we'll have to use the "official" build.

Don't the licence conditions on the Kanthak version mean it's not usable with EDP?
