I changed it to \w+\b(?<!M5\d\d) and it works like a charm -- Thank You! (In fact it also seemed to work the original way, but this one captures my intent.) Is there a reference I can look at somewhere? Some of those symbols are not in Help under Regular Expressions. I am always happier if I understand what I am doing.
There is one other issue left with color. I am attaching a PowerPoint file. (Inside a ZIP file. I got "the message".) APIWATW
Slide1: I am wondering why the green bleeds over into adjacent "dead" lines above and below. Is this controllable? If the Color were limited to a bar across the M5\d\d lines, it would be perfect. One slide 1, the M510 and M511 lines are presented the way I would want them all to be presented. The way it is now is a little hard on the eyes. As I explained I am using this as a specialized text editor.

Well, your color scheme is indeed very odd. To better understand the results, do the following:
1. Reset your Colors options to default
2. Set "Use Ignored color in diff blocks" option under Options | Misc.

This will let you set a good starting pint (and to my mind, will give you a nice diff view), from which you can start customizing your color settings.

The result was the same, but I am going to leave well enough alone.
