ED Pro 3.3 Beta - Changing File Date & Time

Post by comparaholic »

Performed a directory compare which showed differences on some files.
Dbl-clicked one to perform a compare on a set of binary files.
Noticed afterwords that both of the file's time & date were set to now.

Are you sure? Nothing in the source code would cause this...

I am certain it happened.
I was using the May 2 release.
After that, I downloaded the May 8 release and have not been able to repeat it, though I did not verify whether I could repeat it with the May 2 release.

Very odd... There are no changes in May 8 build vs. May 2 build that would change the program's behavior the way you experienced it.

I was comparing between a local and a network drive, if that makes a difference.
Maybe it was just a Windows XP glitch.
But, we both know that Windows doesn't have any bugs
It seems that the only time ED Pro would do this is after editing and clicking on save for each file.
However, I did not edit either file.
Is it possible that the menu bar had a problem?
I have experienced some weird things with my own programs, where performing a full build, vs an incremental build, solved the problem.
I'll keep watch to see if it ever happens again.

Not likely. As you said, the only time timestamps are changed in file comparsion mode is when a file is saved.
