Directory Comparison - Flattened View?

Post by RichG82 »

Hello,

ExamDiff rules. I have searched the help and forums but cannot find a way to view a "flattened tree" of two directories that I am comparing. I thought I have seen it before, but maybe that was in some other product / version. How can I do this?

If this is not available, I would like to request this as a feature. Rather than having to drill down into each directory that is compared, I would like to see a single, flattened recursive list of files that are in all subdirectories with their diff status. This would make it very easy for me to compare two directories and create "patch" scripts from one to the other. Right now, I have to drill down many subdirectories just to copy one file 4+ layers deep.

I may just be really blind and cant see the setting, but it's been bugging me for a while now...

I am using ExamDiff Pro 4.5.0.12

Thanks,
-Rich

I'm an idiot.

I guess I didn't realize that the the "Compare directories recursively" option actually changed the output view of the directory diff structure in ExamDiff. This is the view I was looking for -- it makes sense now that I think about it.
