Hi,
I'm looking for a fast & effective way of doing this, but not sure if it is something that I can do with examdiff pro.
I've got a couple of directories with about 1000 files in them that I am comparing. As I go through my compare process, I want to "flag" files as requiring a second, more thorough look. Ideally, I'd like to be able to "remove" files from the list that no longer need to be reviewed, but can't seem to find anything to accomplish that. The closest thing i can find is the "filter name" option, but that requires a recompare of the directories everytime starts to get time consuming. On top of which if I have the same filename in multiple subdirectories, they ALL get filtered out instead of just the 1 that I want to remove from the list.
Is there any way to either flag certain files, or just remove them from the list without triggering a recompare? Is there any way to add that to a feature request if not?
Thanks,
Eric
Removing file from a compare list
Re: Removing file from a compare list
No, there's no other mechanisms to remove a file from comparison. As far as having to re-compare every time you add to the exclude filter, you have control over this. You are asked whether your want to re-compare after adding a new filter, and you can answer No and mark the "Do not ask again" checkbox.
Your second problem is more difficult. There's no option to add a full file path to the exclude filter. The reason we didn't implement this is that it seems too specific to the current comparison session. Still, perhaps it's a good idea to have such choice in the Filter menu.

Yes - however, if you do not recompare, then the file remains within the compare panes. Furthermore, if I am just trying to mark/hide/remove the file from this particular session (to avoid cluttering my window), I have to reset the filter for the subsequent session(s).psguru wrote:No, there's no other mechanisms to remove a file from comparison. Would adding this feature to ExamDiff be something that you would be willing to add to a feature request for the next version? I know Araxis has it implemented as "hide this file", and Eclipse has something similar as well, and I find it to be an incredibly useful tool, as it allows you to really customize the file list.
Thanks,

Yes, this feature could be added to the next version. The way I see it is that hiding will only work until the next re-compare, when all hidden items will be reset back to being visible.Would adding this feature to ExamDiff be something that you would be willing to add to a feature request for the next version? Agreed; that would make sense to me too. If you want items to remain hidden longer than that, then you would need to set them in a filter.psguru wrote:Yes, this feature could be added to the next version.
