windiff-style 1-window compare view?

windiff-style 1-window compare view?

Is there any option for merging the two windows into one a la Windiff? Or any plans to do so? The 2-window layout forces my eyes to constantly scan back and forth and back and forth, which I find tiring and less efficient. thx
