Encountered an improper argument.

Post by MSpagni »

In dir comparison panels, I was trying to delete a couple of consecutive... files? Empty directories? I can't remember.

I clicked as usual on the "copy/delete block" arrow, but I got the message: "Encountered an improper argument." and the operation officially failed.

I tried again and I got the message (localized, so not EDP-sprecific) "Error deleting file or directory. Impossible to read from the original file or disk." Usually this message simply means that someone else already removed that file/directory.
Once acknowledged, the message was followed once again by "Encountered an improper argument."

Unfortunately I didn't take note of the names and now they are gone.

I think I never saw "Encountered an improper argument." before.

Sorry for being so inaccurate.

This looks like a bug that has to do with accessing a collection by an invalid index. Unfortunately, it's hard to fix without a reproducible scenario. If you come across this again, please let us know: hopefully you will have more concrete steps next time.

The only news so far are that I just encountered the problem even with version 5.5.0.1.
Sorry

I would help if you could provide steps to recreate this problem.
