I have two different versions of ExamDiff Pro installed on my machine (The second being some backup copy of an old installation). One major difference between these two instances is the location/type of configured plugins. The backup copy is some stable fallback which is used only from the command line, e.g. something like
ExamDiff /g:options.txt /nh file1 file2
to open an instance of this old version. The options file specified at the command line was created with the old version and contains a proper set of plugin options. I have now the problem that if I change the comparison options in an instance using this old version, the changed set of options is automatically saved to the registry and as such overwrites all my settings of the primary installation (which is especially bad for plugin settings but also annoying for all other ones).
Is there any way to suppress the registry update? Is there some other workaround to keep the settings of these two installations independent from each other?
settings conflict with different ExamDiff versions
Re: settings conflict with different ExamDiff versions
No, there is none. You can basically have only one version of ExamDiff Pro installed on your machine. The only time the Registry settings are not changed is when you run EDPro from the command line and do not change options in the UI.Is there any way to suppress the registry update? Is there some other workaround to keep the settings of these two installations independent from each other?
