Wahahah! .edpi files no longer work with 6.0.1.4!

Post by plh »

I have a number of specialized .edpi files that no no longer work with the new version. It tells me the file does not exist but unlike before when it brought up the selection screen for a new pair, now it crashes out. This is a very great handicap! What to do?
Thank You,

Can't reproduce this. Do you have an example of an EDPI file that you could upload here?

I do get a message that the file does not exist but there's no crash after that. Perhaps it has to do with your options as well, so you may want to post them here too. One difference in 6.0 vs. 5.5 is that, if you open the Compare dialog after the error message about the missing file, it does not prompt for that (missing) file, but this is arguably unnecessary.

Thank You.

Unfortunately, in my case it is necessary. I am using the .edpi file to save a set of options, not a specific file, so I really do need it to prompt for the file. I was interpreting its failure to do so as a crash.
I am using 6.0.1.4 now. Would the 6.2 beta version help? If not, how can I get back to 5.5?
By the way, if you ever get up to comparing 4 files (I understand 3 is possible now) and I can use a selection string such as \w+\b(?<!M5\d\d), I will worship the very ground you walk on!

OK, so what is actually the difference between 5.5 and 6.0 in this regard?

5.5 loads the session file and displays an error message if one of the files does not exist. Then, when you open the Compare dialog, it shows both files, even the one(s) that does not exist.

6.0 loads the session file and displays an error message if one of the files does not exist. Then, when you open the Compare dialog, it shows only the file that exists.

Note that in both versions the options are loaded, so, based on your description, this should not be a problem.

If there's a crash while loading an EDPI file, please get the latest build of 6.0 and give it try (it works well with your file in our testing).
