If you specify a point in the color space using the RGB reference, then you already have set the coordinates also in the other(s). It's just a conversion of coordinates, like Cartesian vs polar, for example.
I sort of already new that. But what was confusing me is the HSL values in new v16 EDP color dialog weren't matching the HSL values shown in the previous v15 color dialog. This tells me that whatever calculation was being used by each were different from one another, and that concerned me.MSpagni wrote: Thu Jun 05, 2025 12:23 am In practice: if you want to transfer a color from Windows to EDP (or the other way round) use RGB.
It seems obvious to me that the (HSL? HSV?) values that the new v16 color picker dialog were in fact NOT HSL; they are actually HSV (or vice-versa). (Or else some other completely different color scheme, even though the same terminology was used in both: Hue, Saturation, Luminosity.)
So once again, the switch by v16 to using a brand new DIFFERENT color picker dialog is, IMHO, a bug, as it introduces confusion and inconsistency for the user. If you wanted to use the new dialog, perhaps you should have either mentioned that fact, -OR- have provided an option to the user as to which color dialog they wished to use: old or new. If you had done that I would have been less confused.
So okay. I'll give v16 another try.
And this time I'll remember to always do a "Custom" install too! (so I can be sure to override the default installation directory too!)

(Truth be told, I almost always choose custom installs. I don't know what possessed me to choose a standard default install this time. I think it was your mention of changes to the installer that compelled me to give it a try this time. From now on it'll always be custom installs for me!)

I'm all good now. Thanks for everyone's help. I appreciate each of you showing the patience you did with me.

p.s. One of the v15's syntax color types was "Preprocessor". That's not listed anywhere in the new v16's list of syntax types. Tecnically a bug IMHO, but one I'm willing to live with for now. (Any idea WHY it's not listed?) ANYWAY... just please keep in mind that unexpected behavior from a user's point of view is usually NOT a Good Thing(tm)!

You can close this issue now.
