Scroll to first/last difference
Scroll to first/last difference
Beta 5.5.0.7
The commands "Scroll to first/last difference" don't work in the directory compare mode, at least with the options I'm using (sort by dir, merged).

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Could you be a little more specific, perhaps with a screenshot if possible?

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
I'm surprised because the whole thing seems straighforward.
I do a directory compare, then either I click Navigation->First/last difference or the buttons I added to the toolbar and the result is the same: nothing at all.
Well, not completely. If I keep the mouse on the tool buttons the status line says "Scroll to the first/last difference".
I don't see how a screenshot can be of help, but here it is.
This is the screen exactly before and after the button click (of course).

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Addendum: maybe the no effect of the previous case was due to the fact that the list was shorter that a single screen? If it's so, why both toolbuttons are enabled?
in another case I have two blocks of differences far apart and the cursor (screen) is between the two.
The only toolbutton enabled is the "scroll to last" (why?). If I click it, the screen goes to the FIRST block.
If I click "scroll to next" then the only toolbutton enabled (of the couple first/last) becomes the "scroll to first". If I click it, nothing happens... or, better, if I slightly scroll the screen (up or down) before clicking "scroll to first", the screen constantly scrolls to the SECOND block.

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Addendum 2: the same applies to 5.5.0.8 and to file comparison.
Re: Scroll to first/last difference
I cannot reproduce/explain the problems you are having. Please attach your options, it may help. Also, if it happens in file comparison as well, perhaps you could attach your two files and steps to recreate this issue.

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
So, as usual, "there are more things in Heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamed of in your philosophy."
Any couple of file presents the problem.
I discovered it later only because I didn't put the relevent toolbuttons in the file toolbar, so I never used the "first/last" command before in that environment.
And about the steps to recreate the problem: simply compare two files then click first and/or last, et voilà.
Scroll at wish then click again, et voilà again.
It's so pervasive that I don't know how to detail it.
I really hope the problem is configuration dependent. I hate fighting ghosts...
(NB configuration attached)

Still could not reproduce, even with your options. I'm attaching a small video of my EDP session, please take a look (using your options).

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Sorry for the delay: I was on holidays!
What your video shows is exactly what I would expect, but not what I get on my computer.
I installed the latest beta in my old Win2000 computer and it behaves in the same way.
How can I capture a video like the one you did?
What else can I do to help you?
Do you think a tracing build can be of help?

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Not sure whether the traced build will help here...
You can record a video like this using Windows Media Encoder - that's what I did. It should work fine under Windows XP, don't know about Windows 2000.

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Got it. (Or so it seems)
The Scroll to first/last difference command don't work if "view"->"Diff combo bar" is not selected!

Re: Scroll to first/last difference
Very good find, thank you. The fix in build 5.5.1.1.
