XML comparison - elements not aligned

Post by toyzrme »

I am trying out your tool, dying to find a useful XML comparison tool.
In the attached XML files, I simply re-ordered the lines within a single element, near the bottom.
I was hoping your tool would sort the elements within each parent to normalize them before comparing, but it doesn't seem to, so it perceives differences, when by XML standards they are equivalent.
I have tried various combinations of the 2 XML plugins, sort, and a few others, but no luck.
Am I doing something wrong or missing something?

Thanks!

No, I don't think you are missing anything. EDP uses XmlStarlet to perform XML canonicalization. However, XML node order is considered important, and is not a part of canonicalization. I'm not aware of any tool that would sort nodes of an arbitrary XML file.
