Options->Document type->Javascript:

Extension 'js' is already used by the Java type!

and then no way to select any other doc type.

N.B. In reality I know some unhortodox ways, but...

This typically should not happen but fair enough: the reaction of EDPro is too harsh. A workaround is to change your JS extension to something else, like JSX, then got to the Java type and remove JS, then rename JSX back to JS for the JavaScript type.

The next build of 6.0 will have a less dramatic reaction to duplicate extensions.

Good, but I think you're overlooking a detail.
I did nothing; that's the default!
You have to change your JS extension to something else...

It's already in the latest build: simply reset defaults for that page.
