There are some rules related to temp paths but I doubt that they apply to your situation.
I think that was the problem. I added a new folder called tempkeep, moved the directory I was testing earlier to that directory now examdiff pro works correctly. I'm not sure why you'd want to ...

Re: examdiff pro guesses at file names ??
For a new comparison EDPro always remembers the last compared pair (separately for files and directories).

Re: examdiff pro guesses at file names ??
I wonder why it's not doing that for me. Do you see in my image how I've been comparing two files named categorygridpage.ascx in different directories? When I click on compare new pair file2 stays the same but file 1 picks up a different file and directory. Could it have something to do with the ...

examdiff pro guesses at file names ??
I love this product so much I hate to complain but maybe it's just that I have a wrong setting.

file 1 vs file 2 ... how to stop changing my inputs
it's irritating when I have file 2 or directory 2 set the way I want it (from a previous compare) then change file 1 or directory 1 to setup for another compare only to find that examdiff pro has "guessed" at what I want in file or directory 2 ... If there is an option to turn that off I haven't ...

Why does this board's search fail so often?
I could probably find my answer if the search wouldn't keep giving me back this response:
The following words in your search query were ignored because they are too common words:
words or strings like:
ignore lines
ignore lines compare
... what am I missing?

Re: Examdiff Pro Aborts on Scrolling
Thank you, this definitely helps. Please try the latest build of 4.0 (4.0.2.2), the bug should be fixed there.
I just beat the bejesus out of the uppper scroll bar and couldn't get it to fail --- good job ... it was failing everytime I touched that scroll bar last night.
Have I told you lately ...

Any chance of getting your zipped folders?
I'm uploading one zip file. Create two directories and delete a few files from one of the directories, that pretty much is what I was doing --- synchronizing my utility batch files on two computers. I could not duplicate the problem on a second computer ...

Re: Examdiff Pro Aborts on Scrolling
This is an odd one. Obviously, I couldn't reproduce it. Could you export your options to a file and attach it here, as well as a screenshot?
Weird I can't upload a txt file, changed to opt and log, neither worked ... guess I'll cut and paste hope that's ok.

Examdiff Pro Aborts on Scrolling
I'm using Build 4.0.2.1 .. comparing directories, Windows XP Pro, I drag the scrollbar down almost to the end of the display and get:
An unhandled win32 exception occurred in ExamDiff.exe (6140)
I've tried it three or four times and the abort occurred each time. I guess I better not poke my eye ...
