Remember that the whole value is visible in a tooltip.

Re: MS Visual C error pop-up
Ta, I'll do that (in a few days). Dump wise, do you mean the one created by Windows' resident Dr, or is there a EDP-specific dump location?

MS Visual C error pop-up
V5.0.1.14 on an XP Pro SP3 machine I've been using EDP on & off for hours, but wasn't actually actively doing anything with it when suddenly I got a pop-up error box which said something like: Error from MS Visual C (++ ?) Redistributable - I've been asked to terminate in an unusual way by ...ED...

Suggestion: Compare window could contain option summary
Following on from my desire to have the Compare window open even when EDP is called from the shell extension (enabled by specifying /sd in Options -> Global -> CLI options), I'm wondering if there's any plan to provide a summary of currently selected options in the Compare window. For example one li...

Re: Out of memory error
So why not use the "Compare To..." to on your first file (as it's designed to work) in order to the select your second file from the Compare dialog? Because being able to select both filenames via the shell is significantly easier if you have both directory viewers open already - there's ...

Re: Out of memory error
You can use the "Compare to..." command to get the Compare dialog. Yes I know, but that ignores the filepath I've just saved away as 'first item'. Instead I get the thing I chose 'Compare To' for, and the second file - so far as I can tell - is whatever was last used as a second file. ......

Re: Out of memory error
I was unaware that the PE plugin shouldn't be enabled for routine .EXE compares, and have indeed now turned it and the others off. I can't recall when I turned the plugins on, but it might have been during evaluation when I looked at what they did to small test files of the appropriate sorts. I take...

Out of memory error
V5.0.1.14 I tried to compare two roughly 32 MB .exe files (installers for ZoneAlarmPro); EDP reported out of memory while trying to allocate 256.0 MB, do you want to compare these files in binary mode byte-by-byte ... ? The PE plugins were turned on. Before anwering the question, I looked in temp ho...

Bug? in way file paths are shown in Compare window?
V5.0.1.14 The compare window opens fairly small. When a long filename is presented in one of the fields it seems to be shown right-justified so you see leafname info rather than drive & start of path - and that's good. When the window is dragged further open, I find that both displayed paths do ...

Re: How to install a new version?
Weird. The C:\Program Files\ path in the key you don't recognise has C:\PROGRA~1\~P-FOL~1\PRESTO~1\EXAMDI~1\ExamDiff.exe /sf:"%1" I have installed three of your products in "C:\Program Files\~P-folder\PrestoSoft\" in turn; first the free non-pro version - which from my uninstalle...

Re: How to install a new version?
I decided to start all over again (though I used View->Options->Export to save a text copy of in-use options first). First I uninstalled V5.0.0.26 via Control Panel Add/Remove, choosing to have it delete registry settings. Then rebooted as requested, and went to the Start Menu folder entries for V4....

Re: How to install a new version?
You need to disable it in 4.5 and enable in 5.0 by using the option than I mentioned above. I've tried this several times - running 4.5, turning the option off, quitting 4.5, seeing that integration is no longer present from explorer's context menu, then starting 5.0 and turning the option on and q...
