Ignore Split Text

Post by ikrananka »

I am comparing two large text files but have an issue where I have been unable to ignore end of line breaks, e.g. when I compare the following two items:
  • Game Resets (Diodes, Filter Caps, Bridge Rectifiers, Power Supply) and Strange Game Behavior
    PowerOn
    CPU LEDs and Sound Beeps

    and
  • Game Resets (Diodes, Filter Caps, Bridge Rectifiers, Power Supply) and
    Strange Game Behavior
Power-On CPU LEDs and Sound Beeps
I find that no matter what "Ignore" Text Comparison Options I select ExamDiff Pro always comes up with the following differences report:

Strange Game Behavior
Power-On

In my comparison I really want to ignore the fact that this text is on different lines and that the text may be split - I just want to know if the same text is present in both files in the same order - is this possible? I have a bunch of similar large files to check so being able to do this would be a huge help.

Thanks

No, this is not possible. Text file comparison is line-by-line, and there's no way to combine lines so that they are treated as one long line.
